Because not all files are alike, but in iTunes the tracks are

I've been scouring the net for a solution that satisfies. Since I'm using an old mac (PowerPC) as a media-hub I can't use any of the 'intel-only' solutions. Similarly, the age of the machine makes it impractical to actually convert all the files to m4v or simething similar, and even so, I think it a waste of time and video quality. So I found 1 tool that helped me out a little, Movie2iTunes, which doesn't convert and does some educated guessing based on the filename.

So, I've modified and extended the script to make use of regular expressions in order to handle a wider variety of filenames and made it recognise 'native' file formats so as to not create unnesecary reference movies. Great tool, but it lacks in the only area where Plex, a deritive of XBMC, is still attractive to me, which is scraping info from the web. Plex of course looks stunning, but Plex is also "Intel-only" and I still like iTunes for a lot of other reasons.

So, now that I have a script that satisfies me in adding files to my iTunes library, I'm hoping to build one that is able to scrape aditional information from thetvdb.com and to do so from within iTunes, on any mac that is capable of still running on iTunes...

I'm just setting up this project, nowhere near a public release, just need a placemark somewhere on the web to obtain an API key. I will update this page when relevant information becomes available, such as a place where the project can be picked up.
